I joined UWE soon after Martin in 2002 to support Glenn Lyons with the new research initiative that would become the Centre for Transport & Society. As Associate Dean Research, Martin was an enormously supportive leader. His calm, intelligent and friendly style brought confidence to our mission. He continued to take a keen interest in our work through his wider responsibilities as PVC. His passing is a great loss.
