I am extremely saddened to hear this news. Martin took the time to meet with me during my very first week working at UWE, and made me feel hugely welcome as a new member of the research community, and well as fully informed from day 1. He continued to make time for me - and my views and questions about research and the University's research environment - right up until he stepped down from his role at UWE. He was always positive and yet also honest and open about challenges. I valued working with him very much indeed. I send my sincere condolences to his family and friends.
