I had the privilege of working with Martin, as his Executive Support, when he was an Associate Dean in the Bristol Business School and again as PVC Research and Enterprise as a member of the Directorate. I very much enjoyed the time that Martin and I worked together. Martin was a true family man, he was immensely proud of his children, and would have a chat in the office about what Matthew and Charlotte were doing at the time. I had the privilege of meeting Matthew when he was in his early teens. Martin popped into the office one day with Matthew and a new puppy. If I remember rightly, the puppy stole everyone’s hearts. I worked with Martin right up until he retired and always enjoyed a ‘chin wag’ with him about how his allotment was coming on, we were always comparing notes - his produce always outstripped mine – and, how many fish he had caught on his recent fishing trip. I was so sorry to hear the sad news about Martin, he was a thoughtful and decent person and my thoughts go out to the family at this time.
